The Lumag IG-4000 is a powerful and compact petrol inverter/generator of professional quality. This professional 4000W petrol inverter delivers excellent performance and has 2 x 230 Volt connections, 1 x 12Volt (8.3A) connection and 2 x USB connections.
The continuous power is 3800W. This inverter has a parallel function. This allows you to link two inverters together and the continuous power of 1 of the 2 inverters becomes 7600W. You need to purchase a parallel kit for this.
The inverter is equipped with an electronic protection. This means that you have a fully automatic voltage control. This means a continuous voltage while an overload protection provides the necessary security. This protects your connected electrical machines against peak voltages. The 15 liter tank capacity means that you can use the inverter for up to 8 hours at a time (at 75% load).
NB! The machine is equipped with 2 x 230 volt connections, 1 x 12 volt connection and 2 USB connections.
Peak current draw
Most electrical appliances require a little more power from the generator when starting up. This is called peak current draw. With a generator there is a risk that the continuous capacity and/or perhaps even the maximum total capacity will be exceeded.
If the maximum power is exceeded during the “start-up”, the generator is 'too light' to be able to start the device. The IG-4000 generator then switches itself off automatically to prevent any damage to equipment.
A solution to the above problem is to connect the equipment in a different order. Always connect the device with the highest power / highest peak current first. If this works correctly and well, you can also connect the rest, in order of power.
It is important that you never connect all devices at the same time. For some devices, the solution described above is not sufficient.
These devices require such a high peak power consumption that you should take this into account when purchasing a generator.
Tools or machines without starting current limiters are a well-known example of this.
You should think of compressors, high-pressure cleaners, angle grinders, demolition/drilling hammers, welding equipment, but also refrigerators and air conditioners.
With these devices you have to multiply the power by a factor of 3 to sometimes as much as 7 to see whether the generator is suitable.
Check this with the supplier of your machines.
Suppose you want to connect a 230 Volt angle grinder without starting current limiter with a capacity of 900 watts to the generator. In that case, you must therefore multiply the 900 watts by 3.
This results in a peak power consumption of 2700 Watt. When you choose a generator, it must therefore have a total capacity of at least 2700 Watt (at 230 Volt).
